This year marks our six year anniversary at Detroit City Distillery. Surviving a global pandemic and total economic meltdown seemed like a pretty good reason to do something super bad ass to celebrate this year. We're pulling out some of our rarest barrels, some of our greatest hits and some stuff that the public doesn't even know about yet. These bad little boys offer a glimpse into the soul of our distillery 2 oz at a time.

THE LINE UP
#1 - Our First Ever Barrel
That's right folks. We're pulling straight from the first barrel we ever made. Born on April 22, 2013, this 7 year and 4 month Bloodline Whiskey is truly remarkable. The mash bill of 60% wheat and 40% barley express rich butterscotch and coffee notes with a supremely smooth body and finish.
#2 - Michigan Single Malt
We can't make Scotch (because we're not in Scotland) but we can make some killer Michigan Single Malt. This is our first single malt whiskey, which has not been release. It's made with 100% single origin barley from Dexter Mill that was malted and smoked by Pilot Malt House on the westside of Michigan. It's been aging 2 years and 8 months in a Croze Nest Cooperage Cask made in Grand Rapids. It's 100% Michigan and 100% Single Malt. This is a taste of what's to come.
#3 - Chocolate Bourbon
This straight bourbon whiskey has a welcome new addition - chocolate barley malt - which brings rich roasted coffee and cocoa notes from a malt commonly used in porters, stouts and brown ales. If that doesn't sound delicious, there is something wrong with you.
#4 - Chocolate Banana Bread
This has to be one of our funkiest experiments and it turned out fucking awesome. We fermented 100% mash bill of chocolate malted barley with hefeweizen yeast. We used brewer's hefe yeast to impart it's signature banana-clove funk you'd find in whits and hefes on to the body of a super rich single malt. It's a weirdly delicious whiskey love child.
#5 - Shutdown Bourbon
This was a special one for us and the best representation of what was truly an extraordinarily sixth year in business. We sold four barrels of four grain bourbon in about five days for our first ever virtual release amid the pandemic. This is left over from our private stash. If you drank your bottle already but you really want more.... we totally understand and we got you.
#6 - Bonded Rye Whiskey
Our two year old Homegrown Rye Whiskey won Double Gold at the World Spirits Competition this year. So if this is four years old, that's like quadruple gold right? This "Bottled in Bond" (aged 4 years, 100 proof and from a single distillery) is one of our all time favs. You're welcome.
