Made by our good friends chef Kate Williams and bartender Christian Stachel, for Kate’s new restaurant “Lady of the House.” Lady of the House was one of Eater National’s most anticipated restaurant openings of the year and Kate was recently recognized as Food and Wine Chef of the Year. The collaboration was covered in detail in the story “Lady of the House Concocts New Gin With Detroit City Distillery.”
Williams will tell you her preferred alcoholic drinks of choice are gin and wine, but her history with the juniper-flavored spirit goes back to her childhood. “My dad drank gin, so growing up that's what I would steal from his liquor cabinet,” she says. Now that she’s older, it’s something she and her father share in common.
Fresh and floral, with notes from the forest and garden. Kate and Christian worked extensively with our Master Distiller, JP Jerome to create a balanced gin that would play nicely in standbys like the martini and the gin and tonic but would also be applicable within modern and older style gin-driven cocktails.
Juniper, Rosemary, Cardamom, White Peppercorns, Thyme, Kalamata olives, and a small amount of one ingredient Stachel prefers to keep a secret.
